Info and Press Reviews:

Australian Sally Cooper is an internationally performing vocalist, songwriter, music producer and vocal teacher. A consummate musician drawing  influences from a bold and diverse palette of genres. Her soulful and soaring vocals consistently offer a spine tingling delivery of  a variety of jazz and popular song interpretations, and the emotive themes in her original material.

When Sally Cooper  sings, she treats every note as though it were her own, and each note She sings IS! The most velvety of  soothing vocal tones ranging to spine tingling Bluesy belting.

Sally's live performances and recordings consistently showcase the talents of some of Australia's' finest musicians, and sometimes features collaborations with international musicians and producers.

No stranger to the stage. Her rich vocal talents have kept her in demand full time as an lounge singer not only across Australia but also internationally. She has been performing with her band line-ups since 1990 in 5 star venues across Sydney, Brisbane, and the Northern Territory of Australia, The South Pacific, Singapore, New Zealand, Thailand, Dubai, Tahiti, Doha, Bahrain, China, South Korea and India. Over 2000 live gigs so far but who is still counting?

International 5-6 star hotel lounge bands are required to deliver a world class performance of a comprehensive cross section of material from the 1940's to the present day. (Usually having to cover around at least 1000 songs, sometimes in foreign languages.) They are usually required to play most audience requests. During the years of performing such a vast variety of music to often very discerning audiences, Sally fine tuned her own voice and musical style, which offers a respectful and sincere approach to a variety of genres. She is really recognizable as a singer not for a particular musical style or genre, more so for the true and unique quality of her own voice.

As well as being a seasoned international live performer, Sally's' skills as a composer and producer of music have also earned her  recognition on foreign shores. Her classical instrumental/vocal collaboration with US film music composer Mark Skipper titled "Inside Beauty lies" was featured in the Documentary "Skatin 66" which screened at The Buffalo film festival, NYC 2009.

As a vocalist Sally was initially  trained in a cross section of  jazz, classical , contemporary, and music theatre vocal styles.
But her years of international performance and recording experience  alongside some of Australia's' finest musicians has proved to has been her best teacher over time.

Always willing to grow as an artist and to add  another depth of  dimension to her work with voice. She has been studying Indian classical singing and its relation to  sound healing and meditation in Australia and Varanasi, India for the last year. This is an enhancement to  her background of many years of study and  teaching  of various modalities of singing, voice release and sound healing in Australia. She originally trained and qualified in Brisbane as a registered nurse straight after leaving high school, but left the profession soon after qualifying  to pursue her passion for music. In 2011 and 2012 she is  coming full circle with an integration of her music experience & skills and her original background in health care, as she has been accepted to study for the Masters of Music therapy at University of QLD.

As a voice teacher, Sally combines her experience and training in these many aspects and modalities of voice work to assist people in freeing their  natural singing voice. Her approach to teaching fully respects the varying abilities and styles of choice of each student, rather than forcing them to adhere to a certain genre or any concept of musical snobbery.

Bobby Bensley JavaMusic A&R:
"Strong, confident, passionate, dynamic and technically solid she has paid her dues in clubs around the world leaving audiences in awe in the process.
Sally Cooper delivers vocal performances that have the raw power and dynamic control of Aretha Franklin sprinkled with the energy of Tina Turner and the emotional diversity of Sarah McLachlin. Cooper is the type of performer who makes a connection with the listener on a deep base emotional level. Scorching guitar solos ,danceable structure and pure pop sensibility in the use of vocal harmonies."
